Eye care professionals specialize in understanding how the human eye really works, as well as diseases and conditions that affect your vision—many of which do not always have obvious symptoms. Eye doctors know how age and risk factors affect vision over time for young and old, and they understand the benefits and features of corrective lenses, both as eyeglass lenses and contact lenses.

Our optometrists take the time to explain the results of your eye exam, describe your options and listen to your eye care needs. Because maintaining good eye health is an ongoing partnership, we encourage you to ask questions and share your health information, which could be vital to monitoring, diagnosing and treating potential vision problems.

Dr. Breanne Facey Breanne graduated with honours from the University of Waterloo, School of Optometry in 2011. She was honoured to be selected by her peers as the valedictorian of the Class of 2011. Prior to entering Optometry, Breanne completed her Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Western Ontario in 2007. Her optometry education has provided Breanne with many great experiences in a variety of optometry specialties including low vision, binocular vision, and pediatrics. During the winter of 2011, Breanne completed an ocular disease placement with a group of ophthalmologists in Mobile, Alabama. There she gained valuable experience in cataract and laser surgeries, progressive treatment of macular degeneration, neuro-ophthalmology, and pediatric surgeries.

Although Breanne is well-versed in full-scope optometry, her specific optometric interests include pediatrics, binocular vision and low vision assessment and rehabilitation. Notably, Breanne’s interest and aptitude for the field of low vision was recently recognized as she was the recipient of the prestigious 2011 Award for Excellence in Low Vision.

Breanne is passionate about working with children. With the understanding that vision and learning are so intimately connected, Breanne looks forward to providing eye care for children experiencing visual problems before there is a negative impact on the child’s learning potential.  I am excited to report that she will be introducing vision therapy to our office, which involves the formulation of a treatment plan to relieve visual problems and achieve optimal efficiency and comfort for both children and adults through a series of office- or home-based therapies.

Breanne is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists, the Canadian Association of Optometrists, and the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.
